ILAN LAKS is an artist who works in large-scale non-representational painting and mixed media. Laks’ works have shown internationally in galleries, public spaces, private exhibitions and private collections. Ilan has successfully completed installations of his large scale pieces in prestigious properties such as the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, UCLA, The Mayan in Downtown LA, and in the lobby of the Merrill Lynch building in Downtown San Diego, as well as homes, estates, malls, businesses, office buildings, and real estate staging.
ABOUT THE ART
Galactic Infinity is the term coined by Laks to describe his work. Inspired by French philosopher Gilles Delueze’s Rhizome Theory of Interconnectivity, Laks has shed all narrative content to revel in evolutions of mark making and deconstruction. The results are astonishing nebulae blown across multiple panels like dappled amoebas adrift in particle clouds of color and light. Conveying the vastness of macro/micro dimensional space. Galactic Infinity is an appropriate name.
